Creative Holiday use of a wine bottle
Yesterday
Joe brought home this holiday decoration from work. Someone was selling
them to make money for something.....It's a wine bottle, a short string
of lights inserted into the bottle, a bow, and a sparkly silk
poinsietta flower - very pretty! I'm going to steal the idea and make a
couple for Xmas presents myself! (By golly, I guess I'd better get to
drinking some wine eh? :) Actually, I happen to have an empty wine
bottle now, and it's blue glass - which I think will be quite
interesting.

Window Treatments
I've been busy sewing window treatments for the new house. This is a
picture of the more formal curtains for the two front windows (click to enlarge and drool over the beauty of the fabric:). Underneath the valance and panels will be sheers that will probably be pulled back about 1/2 way down the window most of the time. I have finished both valances and the 4 panels except for hemming, which I won't do until I've had a chance to hang them and find the perfect length.
Last night I almost finished a roman blind (no picture yet, sorry) for the spare bedroom. I was told by the owner of a window treatment shop that roman blinds cost the most money to make. I'd never made one, but they just don't look that complicated. Ok, I'll admit, I scratched my head a few times - mainly to make sure I was doing it right, but I think they're quite straight forward. I'm already contemplating ways to make it easier. Next will probably be a roman blind for Ben's room, possibly out of faux suede or faux leather.
